A tiny bit of spinning

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Tonight I got myself into a restless mood and felt it necessary to spin little bits of nearly all the fiber I have.

The day I realized that I could spin samples on top of singles-in-progress was a great day indeed.

Conclusions:
Romney: awesome!
Merino/tencel: extremely smooth!
Corriedale: still kind of lame.

One of the reasons I want a wheel is laziness. I often want to spin, sometimes for pleasure, sometimes for stress relief, sometimes for something to do with my hands while my mind wanders… but I don’t want to stand up while I do it. I want to sit down and draft and not stop every minute to manually wind on. It seems much more relaxing.

Also, I’m still automatically spinning about a fingering weight (when 2-plied). One of these days I’m going to sit down and start spinning and not let myself get back up until I’ve produced a relatively consistent 2-ply worsted weight.
